SVYM Events We like to have our kids involved in trips that teach them about American
heritage and history. The SVYM will travel to several ceremonial events where we are asked to care for the flag of our country.
Community Service Community service is one of the significant roles carried out
by the Young Marines Program. A Young Marine must have a certain amount of community service hours in order to achieve
promotions. The Shenandoah Valley Young Marines also participate in the Presidential Service Award and Congressional Awards.
To earn this award, a Young Marine must have a specified number of community service hours. Awards include the bronze, silver
and gold lapel pins.
Leaders and Staff The Shenandoah Valley Young Marines staff consists of law enforcement
members, community leaders, teachers, and former military personnel who dedicate their lives to helping young people succeed.
All staff members go through a FBI background check to ensure our kids are safe at all times. Read our SVYM info page to learn
how to become a register Adult
Fulcrum Shield Award The Young Marines received the Department of Defense’s
first annual Fulcrum Shield Award for Excellence in Youth Anti-Drug Programs. This award recognizes military-affiliated youth
organizations around the world that have made concerted efforts with spreading anti-drug messages throughout their communities.
We were selected for this prestigious award due to our regional-to-national efforts with drug demand reduction.
